Long famous for their beauty, this year our beaches and bays have notched up seven Blue Flag awards and three Seaside Awards. Their variety astounds too - surfer hangouts neighbour chalk-backed expanses. Here you can surf, swim or sail. Gaze into rock pools, build a sandcastle, take a boat trip, cycle shorelines, munch on chips, go barefoot beachcombing or simply chill out.
Our Coastal Explorer Packs are great for families and individuals of all ages and provide tools and information to help you explore Thanet’s beaches, the rich natural environment and historical heritage. A trail map highlights activities such as ‘art on the beach’, ‘seaweed and shell search’, ‘play hopscotch’ and learn about the weather and clouds. Check out this guide to Rock Pooling from the Thanet Coast Project to help identify your findings
