The historic Margate Walpole Bay Hotel was built for discerning guests in 1914, extended in 1927, and is now being lovingly restored to its former glory by the Bishop family.
The centre piece of the Museum - the original trellis-gated Otis lift - is a marvellous accolade to Otis' engineering skills.
All around the Reception Lounge, Bar and Dining Room are display cabinets full of interesting objects, mainly from the period when the Hotel was built, and many donated by our clients and well-wishers. We have exhibitions of 19th and 20th century glass on the south wall and the original toaster from our kitchen has pride of place on the salon table.
Don't forget the Napery - textile art on linen table napkins, many done by some of our most famous - and infamous - guests.
