Montefiore Heritage Walk

This leisurely trail explores the town of Ramsgate and its connections to Sir Moses Montefiore, a towering and prominent figure of Victorian England, who was passionate in both his beliefs as a Jew and an Englishman. His philanthropic projects and activism earned him the a Knighthood by Queen Victoria. 

This heritage trail allows exploration of the ethereal Grade II* listed Italianate Greenhouse, with its stunning array of vines and plants. 

Other notable sites include The Mausoleum containing the tombs of both Sir Moses and Lady Montefiore. This, and the nearby Synagogue were designed by the architect of The Brighton Railway Station, David Mocatta. There are 17 notable landmarks and sites to discover on this walk.

Opening Times

Start at Montefiore Avenue junction with Dumpton Park Ave. Trail takes a leisurely one-and-a-half to two hours.
